A Secure Computing Experience With Google Chrome OS

The open source project Chromium OS aims to build an operating system which delivers a fast, simple, and more protected computing experience for everyone who spend most of their time on the web. The PC operating system is constructed on Linux and runs only on specifically intended hardware. This operating system relies deeply on cloud-based applications, and has a user interface that is similar to the Google Chrome browser. As announced on July 7, 2009, this OS targeted at netbooks.

The first Chrome OS-powered devices, identified as ‘Chromebooks’ were released on June 15, 2011. Google Chrome is a combination of software and hardware and is targeted for “generic” systems. Chrome devices are available as laptops and standalone desktops and help you stay connected and get more out of the web as they connect fast to your preferred wireless or wired networks and some models come with built-in mobile broadband access, so you can get online wherever you can make a phone call. Chrome devices come in two different flavors i.e. Chromebooks that are lightweight laptops that allows you to take the web with you wherever you go and Chromatographic are extremely configurable home or office devices.

Chrome devices start up quickly fast and last all day long. Your desired websites load fast, through full backing for the latest web standards and Adobe Flash. Since the battery lasts all day, you don’t have to concern about power. And also your device will always be up-to-date as it automatically updates itself with the latest features, hardware, system updates and anti-virus software, each time you turn your Chrome device on. You can do all your work in a browser and can save all your stuff on the web. Thanks to thousands of apps on the web, you can do all the activities such as sending mail, editing photos, creating documents in the browser without installing any specific complicated software to install. And your apps, documents or settings, etc.., are all stored safely on the web not on the device. So you have perpetual access to your stuff even if you’re using another computer. You will be thinking that it’s not safe to share your information on the web, but it’s not the information you are sharing, you are only your device.

You can either sign in with your own Google account on your device to access your own Chrome apps, bookmarks, and settings or you can browse the web as a guest without signing in. Both ways are secured and your personal files are never accessible outside your account since you are protected by built-in security and each web page and application you visit, runs in a restricted environment. Installation is not a dispute for the Chrome OS as it comes pre-installed. However there is a simple setup procedure for this. When you start up your system, it’s optional that you sign in using a Google account. As long as Google continues to upkeep the project, Chrome OS will keep improving. One day, and possibly sooner rather than later, it certainly even be ready for all.

I used to use Firefox, but recently I’ve been hoping back and forth between Firefox and Chrome. All I can say is, Chrome is really starting to win me over.
