Android 2013: What To Expect?

2013 has proved to be revolutionizing year in various significant terms, but the technological era has been impacted the most. Several major breakthroughs have come across already while many others are yet to fall in place. Speculations are high amongst industry experts as to how the year will excel in terms of technological advancements. Several top shots have put a lot on stake to emerge as leaders through 2013. One such tech giant is Google. Already ruling the roost in the search engine league, Google has also established a strong hold in the mobile app development market. With feature-rich and power-packed Android OS in place, Google is steadily racing towards becoming a world leader in mobile technology realm.

Android evolution

The year 2013 is regarded as the year of innovation and all eyes are set on Google, awaiting an out of the box innovation from the web giant. Though citing predictions may look childlike, but we will go ahead anyways. Here are some pointers that explain what you may expect from Google’s Android in the year 2013.

Android 5.0: This is more of a sure bet than a mere prediction. It is certain that Google will be releasing Android 5.0 version this year. But the big question is what will this upgraded version bring along? Well, we are likely to witness some enhancements in the UI and some performance improvements. We are also expecting improved social integration in the People App, to match up the integration levels of Windows phone.

Google Goes Wireless: Data carriers and Google don’t share much of a good history. This became even more evident after the launch of Nexus 4. The lack of LTE in the device made it evident that either Google was unable of partnering carriers or was not willing to do the same. So it is likely that Google might come up with its own wireless network, either by developing its own MVNO or purchasing an entire network based out of USA.

Android in Your Living Room: Yes! After your kitchen it is time for Android to bang down doors and enter your living room. Owing to Android’s enticing capabilities, Google is likely to launch a Google TV and partner industry leaders to develop a range of Smart TV and corresponding set top boxes. You might doubt this prediction after the failure of Nexus Q, but it is essential to note that it was more of a promotional failure than a technological failure. As Google gears up to make movies available in the Play Store, there will be more of Android in your living room than just the Google TV.

Colorful Bliss: Nokia has been ruling the roost when it comes to offering a diversified color palette to users. HTC is also nowhere behind in the league with its range of Windows-powered 8S and 8X phones. Google phones might also get a dash of colors as OEMs decide that this trend is worth following.

Batteries- The Bigger, The Better: As Motorola Razor Maxx and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 have made it big with the capacious batteries, Google is likely to follow the course too. We might just witness the tide turning and thinner and lighter devices might be replaced by bigger batteries. The only thing geeks don’t love in a smart phone is its battery life. The aforementioned devices have proved that to offer and enhanced battery life, the device also needs to resemble a brick. You might not agree to it, but just give a thought to the number of complaints you have come across about battery life versus the complaints you have come across about device size.

The year 2013 has a lot in store for the Android users. So stay tuned and keep following Google updates to see which of aforementioned predictions actually come true.

I wrote here already that having Apple I am still fond of Android, Strange, huh? But what can I do if I like iPhone design and Android functionality)))And here is the brightest example why I’m after the Android – because it’s getting more and more powerful and innovative! Thanks for the review!

The big letdown of Android is it’s developer base, there are many indie developers with creative apps but no high end games like in iOS
