5 Ideas That Will Improve The SEO Of Your website

One of the major challenges that most of the online businesses face, is to maintain relevance in the eyes of the search engines, especially Google. With Google controlling a huge percentage of search traffic, it is not surprising, that the important aim of any web based marketing strategy is to be the number one in Google. On-site SEO is the basic building blocks every business needs to have as they initiate search engine domination. Therefore, it makes sense to incorporate a few SEO strategies into each and every web design you deliver.

Here are fantastic five ideas to improve the strength of SEO for every website you design:

IDEA 1:

Add a blog:

An addition of blog to any sites provides your client with the opportunity to add fresh content regularly. Search engines are always in search of fresh content. If you encourage your client to update the blog on a weekly basis, you are actually giving them a distinctive SEO benefit. As blogs logically attract search engine traffic, so they can take benefits by adding content as frequently as possible and also allow the users to leave comments or ask questions. The activities of the blog also add value to the site and enhance the prospect of probable customers social bookmarking it and sharing it with their social network. A blog can also augment the size of any website and this is a key SEO advantage in the form of higher number of pages to leverage with internal links.

IDEA 2:

Add Google Analytics to each page:

Google analytics is a free software package. It provides the client with a huge range of critical data about their site and its performance in the search engines. By using features like Event tracking, bounce rates, Intelligence and Goal Tracking, you can demonstrate your client which search engines, keywords and traffic sources are generating leads or sales for their business. With the help of this data, you can also show them the way to improve their site over time through Split testing. Even if you sign up for Google Webmaster Tools you can get information to learn more about your web pages and keywords.

IDEA 3:

Reduce code bloat:

Google is always on the lookout for exclusive content. However, CSS and JavaScript in the HTML code make it difficult to find it. All the JavaScript and the CSS files should be added as external files to minimize the time it takes for search engines to find the authentic content as well as dropping the  code-to-content ratio. Do not forget that too much of code not only decelerates the page’s loading time but also enhances the possibility of coding errors. Although, this does not have any direct impact on the site’s SEO but cause difficulty for the search engine.

IDEA 4:

Make each page distinctive:

Google ranks the significance of each website according to the content it encompasses.Google is always seeking for pertinent content not to be found anywhere else on the internet.  This means that the content of each and every page has to be completely different from any other site on the web or any other page on the same site. This raises the problem of duplicate content which is the reason for fear of all site owners. Duplicate content will be invariably ignored by search engines as the process is always in search for content that sets your site apart.

IDEA 5:

Use Meta description tag:

<Meta> description tag appears on the search engine results page. They provide the web surfer a synopsis of what the site is about. Write a description to make the visitors click on the result. Here lies the opportunity to attract visitors. Google also uses a Meta description tag to distinguish web pages. You can include free offers and guarantees with a telephone number to develop the connect through rate on your clients SEO ranking. The only thing that you need to ensure is to restrict the <Meta> description tags to around 160 characters in size, including any spaces.

No doubt, if you integrate the above mentioned five ideas in your website designing projects, you can provide your client the best possible opportunity of generating profits and sales from search engine rankings.

There are a lot more things involved in SEO than these 5, but I think these are the most important factors to keep in mind.

On page SEO is important, but backlinks and social signals are becoming even more relevant. Also, (and I discovered this one the hard way) some blogging platforms or wordpress themes don’t generate the post title as an H1 title, either leaving you with no H1 tags (bad) or the name of your site as the H1 tag on posts (also bad).

If this is the case, you may have to do a bit of theme editing.

With Googles on-going Panda/Penguin up-dates, page relevance has become more important than ever. While link building has always been a large part of website SEO, it is more the relevance and importance of where the link comes from than the amount of links.

It’s important to also note that anchor text variation has become a large factor in the link strategy in order to keep backlinks looking natural to Google.
