Why Nexus 4 Is Better Than iPhone 5

nexus4vsiphone5

The Google’s latest Android phones Nexus 4 definitely have several advantages over the iPhone 5. To start with it has numerous software and hardware features that aren’t found in the Apple’s phone. A lot of people find it quite a daunting task to choose one from the other, this article guides you through some of the features that make the Google’s Nexus smartphone the better option.

1. Nexus 4 Is Unlocked

As opposed to the iPhone 5 Nexus 4 is normally unlocked allowing you to change from T-Mobile, AT&T as well as other prepaid providers in America. Another major benefit is that you can use international SIM cards on your Nexus 4 while on travel. AT&T roaming fees are extremely expensive and the provider allows you to only call within America or in just in the country you are in. For instance if you are in London and want to call someone in Germany then you are not lucky. Although iPhone can be used with international SIM cards they are usually locked while you are in United States.

2. Nexus 4 Has Better Maps Than iPhone 5

Nexus 4 comes with the latest version of Google maps which gives it a competitive edge over the iPhone 5 iOS 6 maps application. Google’s Map application allows you to jump into neighborhoods with street views, see business names devoid of clicking icons and provides accurate 3D views. When it comes to location accuracy and navigation iPhone 5 Apple’s Map application comes second. Although Apple’s Map application can be used for some tasks it has a very high probability of leading you into the wrong destination. For instance iPhone 5’s maps cannot help you accurately locate emergency rooms; although there have been some improvements Nexus 4 is superior in the field. IPhone 5 maps struggle with basic searches and produces inexplicable errors.

3. NFC and Wireless Charging

As opposed to iPhone 5 Google’s smartphone Nexus 4 features wireless charging and Near Field Communication features. The NFC feature allows mobile payments, as well as allowing the smartphone to communicate with other phones. Nexus 4 can be used to run applications such as Google Wallet that allows you to checkout with the phone and have charges transacted over any debit or credit card. Although iPhone 5 can be used to pay for certain items it heavily relies on barcodes that are generated via Passbook and applications. Nexus 4 has an inbuilt wireless charging system that allows you to charge your phone without having to swindle with cables. This feature in Nexus 4 makes it different from the iPhone 5 which relies on charging cables.

4. Larger Display

Nexus 4 has a larger display than the iPhone 5, the Nexus screen measure 4.7″ while that of the iPhone is 4″. The Nexus smartphone also has a higher screen resolution of 1280 by 768 pixels compared to 1136 by 640 pixels the iPhone 5 offers. The Nexus 4 is much better for playing games and watching videos than the iPhone 5.

5. Camera App

The Nexus 4’s camera application offers you more control than the iPhone 5’s stock camera application. You can make quick adjustments with just a single tap on the nexus 4 display such as flash settings, exposure compensation and white balance.

Nexus 4 is therefore far much better than the iPhone 5 in terms of features and performance.

The specs is often times better than that of apple. And the Nexus 4 is just irresistable. I agree with every detail that you included here. Thnaks a lot!

The camera app of nexus is quite amazing that helps us to get a better control while clicking snaps.I have viewed the review of the Nexus phone on You Tube and it is there that i realized the power of this camera app and the reason why it is better than the others until now. Also the unlocking thing is not a problem in Nexus.

The Nexus phone is any day better than the iPhone 5 though iPhone has been quite popular with their offerings.I expected Apple to make some change on the appearance and widget thing in the latest operating system of theirs but they have not done any seemingly different change. Also the 3D map feature has not worked as it should have worked.

Excellent points highlighted, Sarah! The features you described here are worth- noticing. The best thing I like about Nexus 4 is – it is more affordable than iPhone 5 with a plus point of having a sleeker body. Apart from this, it has a great mobile OS, and a strong hardware platform to run it on which I consider while purchasing a mobile phone.

I’m not that much of an Apple fan, I think their products are way too expensive to think that they function just as well as the next gadget. It’s definitely not worth investing it. Their marketing stragies are very impractical for the average person. I definitely think the Nexus 4 is way better.

I’ll give you the NFC and Better maps but the other points made seem to be only relevant to somebody looking for those features. The bigger screen only really works for someone looking for a bigger phone or one that has hands that can hold it. My wife as several other women I know like the fact that Apple kept the screen the same width because they can hold it in their hand easier. Nexus 4 being unlocked again is only good for someone who cares that it’s unlocked. Many people just want a phone and don’t really care what service it’s on as long as the price is right. Frankly unlocked phones cost more to buy upfront and i’m sure that scares off some buyers who just want to get the phone at a low price. The camera app I’m not so sure it’s better. The iPhone 5 has a fantastic panorama photo mode that many phones don’t have, plus it’s very simple and easy to use.

I’d say that Apple might not be the best phone on the market any more but they are right up there with the best.

I couldn’t agree more about the inept way that the Nexus 4 has been launched, this caught Google by surprise, and the timing here was perfect too. Unfortunately though, I see that Google may have pushed away alot of potential customers who have been eagerly awaiting this device. This is a hard lesson for Google.

The nexus 4 is a better phone than the iPhone because of many reasons.I always criticize about the compatibility issues that we have to face with the apple phone.I just find this very irritating when we cannot connect with the other mobile phones. Also it is very expensive for the price that they set it for.Hence i would prefer the Nexus phone over the apple.

I am very much impressed with iPhone5 camera; they managed to make one of the top cameras and still kept the phone very thin. Other than the camera, it’s Nexus 4 all the way. Nice article!

I really love the design of the iPhone 5 and it is made in a very portable way but still this version has not made the mark as it would always do.The most irritating thing about apple is that their bluetooth is not compatible with other phones. There is unlocking issue which nexus doesn’t have. Also the Nexus offers a better camera control.

Every review reads the same Nexus 10 is slimmer lighter has a better screen, better camera, is way faster & cheaper, but the iPad always has to be declared the superior tablet. Checking logic and common sense at the door.

What I see in the Nexus 4 is a great mobile OS, and a strong hardware platform to run it on. But the phones in the stores don’t look anything like it. So I am left bitter for 2 reasons, that I can’t have a Nexus 4 on Verizon, the carrier of my choice, and that among Verizon’s 6,000 different Android models, not one comes close to resembling this beauty. Good post, thanks for sharing.

“Good comparison, Problem is iPhone 5 16gig is $650 while the Nexus 4 16gig is $350. That’s a $300 difference right off the bat if your paying straight up. Your going to lose more money on iPhone 5 after 2 years. The only way iPhone 5 makes sense is if you lock into a 2 year contract at the subsidized price of $200.

To be honest, it wouldve been a tougher choice for me between the nexus 4 and iphone 5 if the iphone was cheaper, better designed, and had something new to offer as far as OS. I think the stretched out iphone 4 idea was dumb.

I have a Nexus 4 and it is an amazing smartphone that is incredible regarding performance. Battery smooth like an iPhone, all glass design like the iPhone 4, but with a sick 4.7″ HD screen, quad core processor and 2gb RAM, even weighs about same as the iPhone 4. Good device & article too, thanks for sharing.

I would recommend an iPhone to someone that doesn’t like messing with a phone and just wants it to look nice and work well out of the box, but would definitely recommend a Nexus 4 to anyone who enjoys technology LOL. Good comparison, thanks for sharing.

The Nexus 4 is without a doubt a great device, You have compared it very well. All features are up to the mark compared with other competitors. The best part is, it is economical. Good post, thanks for sharing.

LG has done a fine job of making a phone that competes with Apple’s iPhone, in terms of eye candy and technical chops, though many of my Apple buddies prefer the smaller form factor of the iPhone. Good comparison, thanks for sharing.
