URGENT: Avoid Impending Internet Meltdown, Visit DNS-OK!

A major Internet meltdown is about to affect hundreds of thousands of users in America whose computers are infected with malware. These users will lose their Internet service, on Monday, due to an impending crash caused by the FBI’s decision to take down servers that propagate the ‘Alureon/DNS Changer bot’ malware on Monday, July 9, at 12.01 a.m. Unfortunately, Antivirus programs do not offer protection from the DNS Changer, and even Mac computers are also at risk of infection.

The Alureon DNS Changer was designed to redirect Internet users from trusted Web sites to other sites so as to steal their¬†personal¬†information. Thankfully, the FBI took the unusual step of creating a ‘safety net’, that routes hundreds of thousands of infected computers through the FBI server to stop the ‘spoof’ attacks. Following, the shut down of the malicious servers on Monday, Internet users will have to take steps to avoid loosing access to the Web. Therefore, the following steps, when taken, will help to determine whether your computer is infected with the DNS Changer malware or not before taking further actions such as backing up important files and folder and deleting the malware from your computer.

How To Protect Your Computer From DNS Changer Malware

  • Visit the FBI-approved site -http://www.dns-ok.us – to check if you get an ‘all-clear’ green background or an ‘at risk’ red background.
  • If you have a red background, visit – http://www.dcwg.org/fix – which lists free virus scanner and removal software.
  • You can also go to http://www.dcwg.org or http://www.dcwg.org/detect/, run by the DNS Changer Working Group, a collection of experts recruited by the FBI to help find a solution to the malware problem, for more information.

    Hi there,
It is always something. I don’t understand why people work so hard to mess other people up. Why can’t they work that hard to improve things – I would think that that would give them so much more satisfaction than all that destruction. Thanks for putting us on alert.
