How To Convert Video For Your Tablet PC

Tablet computers have become an essential equipment for busy people. Mobility combined with versatility and power let people work while traveling and cope with a great deal of tasks – from composing an email to taking photos and videos. Many tablet users also adore watching videos while having a long trip. Although there might be several obstacles to running a video on a tablet PC, such as few formats supported and only one video resolution acceptable. All those problems can be easily solved with the help of free Windows software. Thus, the Video Converter from Freemake.com will help to convert any videos to your iPad, Kindle, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Lenovo ThinkPad, Motorola Droid, and any others. Moreover, with this tool you may convert videos for almost any portable device – Apple and Android phones, Sony PSP and Sony Vita, BlackBerry, etc. Just follow the steps below and you’ll make a video ready for your tablet in a few minutes.

Step 1. Install Freemake Video Converter

Download the video converter app from Freemake.com website, install and launch it.

Step 2. Add your videos

Use the button “+Video” to add the files you’d like to convert for your tablet PC. To add a DVD, hit “+DVD” button and  choose VIDEO_TS folder. If you want to convert a streaming video, add its link via “Paste URL” button.

Step 3. Edit a video (optional)

The software allows basic video editing: you may cut unwanted video parts, rotate a video, or join several videos into one. Don’t forget to click “Ok”, when you’re ready.

Step 4. Choose an output format

Most tablets support H.264 or MPEG4 video playback. This means that you have to look through the tablets specs and make sure that those formats are listed. Alternatively, you may record a video with your tablet PC and look at these properties. This information will be also helpful for further steps. Once you decided about the video format, choose the output option in Freemake Video Converter: “to Apple” for iPad, to “MP4” for other (most) tablets, AVI/WMV/3GP/MKV – if neither H.264 nor MPEG4 is supported.

Step 5. Create a custom preset

Freemake Video Converter has a ready preset for Apple iPad. To convert a video to other tablets, you need to create a custom preset. Don’t worry – it’s not difficult. All you need is the video specs for your gadget – usually they are available at the developer’s website. Or you may copy the information from the properties of a video recorded with your gadget.

To create a custom preset, hit “+” button and fill in the following fields: video codec; resolution (image size); bitrate; frame rate; audio codec; sample rate. Choose an icon and title for your preset, then click “Ok” to save it.

Step 6. Convert the video

Once you picked up a custom preset, click “Convert” to start the conversion. Then transfer a ready video to your tablet using your firmware. For Apple iPad, the transfer to iTunes is already previewed in the video converter, just don’t forget to tick this option.
