How To Get Free Or Low-Cost Internet Service

The Internet is a great resource to have in this day and age. You can do almost anything online, from paying bills to getting a college degree. The problem for many people is the costs that often go along with Internet service. Fortunately there are some ways you can get free or low-cost Internet service for your household. If the high costs are keeping you from getting the Internet service you desire, you should take a minute to check out more budget-friendly options.

Determine Your Needs

If you are thinking of looking for a provider that offers free or low-cost Internet service, you should determine what your needs are and what your budget can afford. Many providers that offer free Internet service only provide dial-up or slower connections. If you want to use the Internet for things such as college courses, you will need a faster speed so you do not have to worry about poor service or slow speeds interrupting your learning. Some of the low-cost Internet service providers offer speeds that are faster than free providers, but be sure to check into them before deciding on one. You want to be sure that the Internet service you receive will meet your needs. Otherwise, a free or low-cost plan may not be the best thing for your household.

Shop Around

The first step in finding a free or low-cost Internet service provider is to shop around for providers in your area. You can either do an Internet search for free or low-cost Internet providers, or look up providers in the phone book. Once you find some, you can usually enter in your zip code to determine if the providers offer service in your area. If you choose to call the providers, they will be able to tell you about any special pricing plans over the phone. Always be sure to check out every option before deciding on an Internet service provider. That way you will be sure to find the best service and plan for your individual situation.

Consider A Bundle

Many companies that provide telephone and cable or satellite television service also offer Internet service. These days they usually offer bundles that combine two or more of these services at one price. Although providers that offer bundles do not usually provide free Internet service, they sometimes offer discounted service for low-income families. One example of a company that offers low-cost Internet service for low-income families is Comcast. They offer an Internet service plan that costs $9.95 a month for families that meet certain criteria.

Watch For Promotions

A good way to get free or low-cost Internet service is to watch for promotions from Internet service providers. They are constantly offering promotions and discounts to get people to sign up with them. Although promotions usually only last for a certain amount of time, you can still save money by taking advantage of them. If you sign up for service during a certain promotional period and find you cannot afford Internet service after the promotion ends, call the provider to find out if they can help you. Many times providers will offer discounts and additional promotions just so they can keep you as a customer. With so many different Internet service providers in existence these days, they have to stay competitive in order to keep people’s business.

With the internet being such a useful resource today, everyone should have the opportunity to have some sort of Internet service available to them. These things should help you find a provider that offers free or low-cost Internet service in your area. You will be glad you took the time to look into them.

Some internet providers offers low rate promos for early subscribers too.. Paying for your internet connection will only be an advantage for people who depend on it for a job or even just for playing games in my opinion.. 😀

I’m in China. There are 2 main internet providors that are partially government owned and regulated. They are very expensive even for western standards and they are slow. Hong Kong is in the list of fastest internet in the world but mainland China is still far behind the average.
There are smaller companies that provide faster internet for decent prices but these services are not reliable and many complaints are floating around on the internet. A lot of downtime and other unpleasantness.
I hope this will change cuz I can’t stand this slow internet.

Free or Low-Cost internet is missing several key things that more expensive service has:

    -Bandwidth
    -Speed
    -Reliability.

You get what you pay for!

Considering a bundle for me is the most definite money saver. This is for people who are tight on budget and would like to get the full internet benefits plus an additional service. You can find comcast internet plans being offered on many websites.
