Sorry to disappoint you but today’s post is not about the origin or history of April Fools’ Day. Once in a while I try to test one or two programs or products so as to form a personal opinion and this month my experiment is going to be on the CommentLuv plug-in. Unfortunately, I cannot call this article a CommentLuv review just yet as I yet to reach a verdict.
The CommentLuv plug-in was designed to reward and encourage blog readers who leave comments on WordPress, Blogspot or Blogger blogs (CommentLuv is now available as an IntenseDebate plugin) to return by automatically adding a titled link to their last blog post at the end of their comment. Although I have heard a few times that the plug-in increases the number comments and daily visitors on a blog, I am yet to be convinced. Therefore, I will begin a one-month mission to find out myself if CommentLuv really does spread the love or whether it will only increase the amount of spam comments on this blog. I hope at the end of the day, my result will tend towards the former rather than the latter.
Strategy. I will use a very simple and straightforward technique which involves making note of the number of comments I have received on my blog in the past month and comparing it with the number of comments obtained at the end of April. If the result shows a significant increase in the number of visitors or comments received, I can assure you that CommentLuv will be a regular feature on this Weblog otherwise the plugin will be removed accordingly.My verdict will be posted as an update on this article on May 2.

I have found most of the commentluv blogs are no-follow. Are these no-follow commentluv links really have any impact on increasing site rank & traffic.

I have recently installed the premium plugin and have made my blog dofollow, if people make more than 3 comments, do a tweet, a like or a +1 of the article.
I too have noticed many are not dofollow, but I respect their wishes as so many people abuse it…but many have the options ‘ticked’ to pass the ‘luv.’
PS I like all your features with the subscribe, follow-upetc…is that a different plugin?

I would say Blog commenting would not increase site traffic but it would improve our website pagerank.If we are posting comment on dofollow blog,we will have good credit on search engine and our blog will have reputation.So Reputation on Search Engine will improve our website SEO and PR,not traffic.
But as soon as PR improves,traffic gets automatically increased.

I think doing commenting on do follow blogs helps to increase your website page rank. Let me add one more point that the main features of comment luv is, it adds users last blog post to the end of the comment that they make on your blog provided that they include their URL and it has a feed available.

This is possibuly what a blogger would like to see in his blog. Search engines ranking will definitely increase and so as pageview if you have some decent articles or posts in your blog.

Comment luv works for both the blogger and the commenter. You just need to give it the proper amount of time. If you have a good blog that has decent content and is user friendly, you will see an improvement in traffic. No doubt. Of course your site has to have SOME kid of rank to get people there in the first place, but do your SEO an create yourself a good environment and it will work for you.
As for the commenter looking for backlinks….same rules apply. Take your time, don’t be spammy and make sure the the link goes to a decent site and some rubbish that you are trying to rank for cause it won’t work. Do follow blogs are a great way to keep a site actively building links going and is a great “PART’ of and SEO strategy.

I have been using commentluv for a little over a month now and it seems to me that my visits have increased. I think this is due to additional backlinks with some anchor text. I plan on keeping it up with most of my blogs to see if there will be a jump in comments and over all traffic.
To me, the mian thing is to leave good comments. People who just prmote their site and dont add anything to the conversation will not help a bit.

Well personally based on experience blog commenting on commentluv blog will both increase you traffic as well as the search engine rankings! The key here is that you comment must be relevant that will attract readers to click your link!

I would recommend CommentLuv to anyone who has a blog, because it just helps to spread content, which is not for SEO purposes or anything other than more opportunities to read good quality material (hopefully)

I think the answer to this question should be yes. As you make a comment on any blog, your last published post is also included along with comment for all commentluv users. Some reader find your post title interesting and they visit your blog for more details. This will help in increasing traffic to your blog.
